I am the Head of the Bioinformatics Unit at the Weizman Institute of Science,
Rehovot, Israel,
founder of BioMOO
(a virtual meeting place for biologists)
and administrator of the Bioinformatics
server of the Weizmann Institute of Science, with its complete server for
databases
and software.
Some of the projects I am busy with are:
- designing and developing GeneCards,
an electronic encyclopedia integrating information about the functions of human genes and their
products, and of biomedical applications based on this knowledge
- designing and developing
Human Chromosome 17 Database
- designing and developing PMedCache
a "caching" mechanism to speed up the access to
NCBI's PubMed
- designing and developing 3DBase (3-Dimensional Database of Biomolecules, the new PDB)
- designing and developing 3DB Browser
- developing and supporting the Integrated Genomic Database (IGD)
- developing software, including
- ToolChest,
a set of tools for the administration of an automatic DNA
sequencing facility;
- Heb3270,
an hebrew terminal emulation of the IBM 3270 for the Macintosh computer;
- FUP,
the File Utilities Package for a MOO server.
- taking care of the development and scientific expansion of
INN
(Israel National Node for EMBNet, the European Molecular Biology Network)
- and providing support for the Virtual School of Natural Sciences
