Perl Programming for Bioinformatics and Internet

 Important:
To pass the course you need to pass all the assignments.
Only the Final Assignment has a due date and grade (80=pass); the rest are of a pass/fail type.
You can submit the other assignments for approval as soon as the topic is covered during lectures.
Assignments and final project will be verified only once.
Please be sure that your projects work before submitting them. You can come to the tutorials and get support while you develop and test your scripts.

Please solve each assignment with the elements provided up to that point. For example: don't solve assignment number 4 with data structure or functions belonging to assignment number 6.

  1. Scalar data
  2. Arrays
  3. Control Structures
  4. File input / output and basic text processing
  5. Hashes
  6. Text processing / Regular Expressions
  7. Data persistence
  8. CGI Programming
  9. Final assignment ( tips, grading criteria)
    must be solved by 31 March 2011


How to submit assignments:
  1. To be evaluated, scripts and related material must be stored on the biocourse.weizmann.ac.il server.
  2. Create a directory for each assignment, i.e: scripts/as1, in the home directory you got at the biocourse.weizmann.ac.il server.
  3. Store there a file readme.txt with the documentation, the executable script(s) and one or more data files for testing. Note: If you create and/or test your scripts elsewhere, transfer the files using any sFTP client to the biocourse.weizmann.ac.il server
  4. Send an email to course@weizmann.ac.il notifying that the assignment is ready. Be sure to clearly state both in the Subject and in the email content, what the email is about, your userid on biocourse and your real name.
